TELEMATICS provider BT RedCARE has launched an online vehicle management service for vans and trucks aimed at saving fleet operators time in analysing vehicle data.

Fleet OnLine relays data relating to a company's specific business objectives and delivers it to the desktop within 24 hours.

Simon Scott, general manager of BT RedCARE, said: 'Currently, most operators are required to collect vehicle data physically from the vehicle itself and then they have to wade through many reports to find the information they need, which means precious time is wasted gathering data before it can be put to good use.'

Fleet OnLine measures engine revs, harsh braking, acceleration, speeding, excessive idling, fuel consumption, drivers' start and end times and overall mileage. Fleet operators are also able to track the location of their vehicles if the GPS option is fitted.

The system has been formed through a partnership with VDP Kienzle Automotive, using 'black box' technology and transmitting data over BT Cellnet's GSM network.
