FORTY companies have applied to run Consignia's 40,000-vehicle fleet after the group announced plans to outsource its operation.

The company invited potential suppliers to bid for three main parts of its business - business cars, light commercial vehicles and heavy goods vehicles.

By outsourcing its fleet, Consignia hopes to benefit from the expertise and buying power of one or more of the key industry players while freeing up the fleet service arm to operate in a more commercial way.

The company employs 1,700 people in vehicle leasing, fleet management and maintenance, and has its own workshops and depots at 180 sites, servicing 30,000 Royal Mail vehicles and 10,000 Parcelforce Worldwide vehicles.

  • CONSIGNIA has appointed two suppliers to deliver its accident damage repair service for its 40,000-vehicle fleet. RAC Business Services and Nationwide Network Services will both repair accident damaged vehicles from the Consignia fleet.
