A FAST-TRACK programme to provide in-depth training for fleet managers has exceeded its targets for attracting future fleet decision-makers over the past year and prompted the launch of a new programme, planned for this year's Fleet Show. Run by the Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM), it offers a fast entry into the basics of fleet management in a year compared to 18 months on a distance learning course.

Last year, the programme attracted three groups of 12 students, a third more than expected, with order books set to fill a fourth course next month. At any one time, the ICFM expects there will be 30 people going through the programme, with about 20 a year gaining a Certificate in Car Fleet Management, compared to only about six per year under the firm's distance learning programme

Three students have moved on to study for a Diploma in Car Fleet Management after finishing their fast-track course. At this year's Fleet Show, to be held at Alexandra Palace from May 1-3, the ICFM will launch a new introductory certificate in Car Fleet Management that qualifies successful candidates to go on to take a fast-track course.
