FLEET managers will get their first glimpse of the new Nissan Primera at the Fleet Show and have an input into its final UK specifications. The sneak preview at Alexandra Palace, London, will be the first time the car will be seen in public outside Japan, but only invited guests will be allowed through to the inner sanctum of Nissan's stand at the show, which runs from May 1-3.

Nissan says by showing the car so far ahead of its UK introduction in January, the company can decide the final specifications, engine line-up and even suspension settings. But no one will be able to drive the car - not even Nissan fleet sales director Kevin McNally. However, he expects visitors to the stand to be impressed with the new Primera's styling. He said: 'I'm expecting everyone who leaves our preview to say 'I want that car'.'

McNally and his staff will be on hand to show guests around the new Primera and its hi-tech features, including a DVD navigation system and rear parking monitor. Feedback from the Fleet Show will help Nissan decide UK pricing and exact range line-up. But the company has confirmed there will be a four-door saloon and estate at launch, with a UK-designed hatchback joining the range later. There will be a choice of 1.8- and 2.0-litre petrol engines plus a 2.2-litre diesel.
