ESTATE versions of the Peugeot 206 and 307 shown as 'concepts' at this month's Frankfurt Motor Show were production versions of the car, the manufacturer has revealed.

Next June will see the simultaneous launch of the 206 estate and two versions of the 307 estate. They will be joined by the 807 - the latest version of the MPV.

Peugeot fleet and leasing director John Taylor said: 'There will be two estate versions of the 307. As well as a traditional estate car there will be a second model which will have a high roof and will be a mini-MPV in concept.'

In 2003 the 307 line-up will also feature a coupe cabriolet model which will be a four-seater with a similar roof mechanism to the 206 CC. A saloon version of the car is unlikely to be launched in the UK although it will go on sale in continental Europe.

Meanwhile, the replacement for the 406 - the 407 - will enter showrooms in 2003. This year fleet sales of the 406 are more than 17% down on like-for-like figures for the first eight months of last year, although the ageing 406 remains the third best-selling fleet upper-medium car behind the Ford Mondeo and the Vauxhall Vectra, and the UK's best-selling fleet diesel car.
