TOYOTA launched its diesel Yaris this week to join the growing ranks of ultra-economical diesel superminis.

It will reach 62mph from rest in 12.9 seconds, while the Verso will do the same in 13.8 seconds. Three-door hatchback variants achieve 67.3mpg on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 113g/km, while five-door cars are rated at 64.2mpg and 117g/km. Verso models are good for 56.5mpg and 133g/km.
Prices range from £8,395 for the Yaris S 3-door to £12,395 for the Yaris Verso GLS.
