NEW research has put the Saab 9-3 and 9-5 among the best performing vehicles in their sector for crash safety.

The Highway Loss Data Institute, an independent US-based research organisation, ranked the 9-3 five-door as the top car in its sector, with the 9-3 convertible and 9-5 among the top in their respective sectors. One of the key factors leading to this result was the fitting of active head restraints.
