BREWING giant Coors - which includes the brands Carling, Grolsch, Worthington and Reef - is offering a greater range of options for staff entitled to company cars.

Coors wanted to give drivers the choice of a conventional company car under a contract hire arrangement or a vehicle sourced through an Inland Revenue approved car ownership scheme.

The company has worked closely with VELO, Ernst & Young and the Inland Revenue to create the new car policy.

Running its current fleet in-house, Coors called on VELO to implement a completely outsourced vehicle service, including maintenance and disposal for its fleet of 1,350 vehicles.

VELO now staffs the branded Coors car scheme helpdesk, handling queries on the contract hire and car ownership scheme.

The leasing and fleet management company has also developed a website for Coors drivers, with information on selecting cars.

The site acts as a portal to VELO's new secure online quotation system, which allows drivers to obtain and store car ownership scheme quotations, order vehicles and request the associated paperwork.

Tony Johnston, VELO sales and marketing director, said: 'We are seeing an increasing number of firms opting for car ownership schemes running in parallel with company car provision.

'Coors' objectives were fully explored and our solution provides for a class-leading car policy within a competitive and sustainable financing and management package.'
