A GROWING need among pan-European and international fleet customers for flexible mobility products and services that operate across borders has prompted Europcar Fleet Services (ECFS) to create a new senior management structure.

The company's UK general manager Graham Wheeler has been appointed to the newly-created multi-national role of sales and marketing director for ECFS globally and Volkswagen Leasing AG in Germany.

Wheeler will work with pan-European and international fleet customers and will have responsibility for the sales and marketing activities for a fleet of 75,000 managed vehicles in Volkswagen Leasing and 35,000 vehicles under the ECFS banner in Germany alone.

The company also plans to launch a new range of cross-border products and custom-made fleet mobility packages.

ECFS, which has a fleet across Europe of about 110,000 vehicles, is the multi-brand leasing and fleet services arm of Volkswagen Financial Services.

It has operations in Italy, Germany, Portugal, Spain and the UK and via associates in many other European countries including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Poland and Switzerland.

In the UK, the company was rebranded from International Fleet Management last September.

Across Europe, ECFS is working closely with sister company and rental partner Europcar International Rental to develop its portfolio of long and short-term mobility services.

Wheeler said: 'Managing employee mobility in all of its elements is an extremely significant cost to any business, particularly those that operate on an international scale.

'We are finding our customers are increasingly seeking more flexible and cost-efficient mobility services that do not necessarily entail the ownership of vehicles. Our aim will be to meet those needs with a range of modern, flexible corporate mobility services and products.

'More and more companies are expanding their international operations. We see this as a very exciting time and a great opportunity to increase the reach of ECFS in the UK and throughout Europe.'
