INSURANCE claim validation company Improveline has fitted on-board telematics to 114 vans and 40 cars after it was shown the systems could save its fleet as much as £275,000 a year.

The Westwood Automotive ‘black boxes’ provide driver identity, daily activity and location logs, remote vehicle diagnostics and driver performance monitoring. They were installed after a study of the firm’s operations by transport management consultant Fleet Efficiency. Improveline finance director Javier Brage said: ‘We are able to concentrate on what we do best and not worry about running vehicles.’

The firm claims telematics have minimised downtime, increased productivity and improved fleet management efficiency.

It has also helped reduce the insurance premiums by £42,000.
