COMPANY car fleets using daily rental vehicles on the Continent can now take advantage of new satellite navigation technology.

The news follows the move by daily rental provider National Car Rental to fit GPS technology to its rental fleet in France.

Ron Santiago, vice-president sales and marketing for EMEA at National Car Rental, said: ‘All our GPS models offer voice guidance in five languages and detailed mapping of France with the major motorways and A-roads for neighbouring countries.’

Satellite navigation is also available at National Car Rental’s branches in Heathrow, Gatwick, Benelux and more than 60 locations in the US. National has also implemented an internet-based fleet management system to manage its fleet of more than 52,000 vehicles in Germany, Switzerland and the UK.

Russell Allen, vice-president information technology at National, said: ‘The system will tell us all we need to know about our fleet – where it is being utilised, depreciation modelling, where we can make cost efficiencies and repair control.’
