The new Ford Mondeo

THIS is Ford's new Mondeo which will make its world debut at next week's Paris Motor Show.

Although the car is officially a concept, insiders say that the production models will look very similar to this chunky estate car.

The production Mondeo will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show next March, where it will be revealed in saloon, hatchback and estate guises before it goes on sale in May 2007.

The car retains the edgy styling which has been seen on the new S-MAX and Galaxy, and which was previewed last year in the form of the Iosis concept.

Martin Smith, Ford of Europe's design director, says of the new look: 'The new Mondeo's bodystyle really emphasizes the sporty, dynamic and premium appearance of the new range. Above all, we've managed to achieve this kinetic look without compromising luggage capacity. I believe new Mondeo will challenge everyone's perceptions of a big Ford car, and prove that we can once again deliver style with substance in a desirable form.'
