This is the new Peugeot 308 – a replacement for the 307 lower-medium sector challenger.

Due to go on sale in the UK later this year, the 308 adopts the slanted headlights and family face first seen on the smaller 207 model.

Few details of the new car are available at the moment, although Peugeot is promising it will be a “very environmentally-friendly” vehicle.

This alludes to a diesel-electric hybrid version – a world first – which is likely to appear in 2008 offering CO2 emissions of just 90g/km.

From launch the 308 will run with the usual mix of petrol and diesel engines. SW estate and CC coupe-cabriolet versions will follow in 2009.

  • Peugeot has also revealed the first picture of its new 207 SW estate. On sale next month, the SW is available with four engine options and two trim levels.
