The AA Charitable Trust has launched a new initiative to help reduce the number of young, inexperienced drivers who are killed or injured on the roads.

The trust is offering free driver training to those youngsters most at risk.

Young people are most at risk of crashing within the first 250 miles they drive solo after passing the driving test.

During this time they are seven times more likely to be involved in a road collision than an experienced driver.

The need to teach young drivers all the skills they need to be safe behind the wheel before they are involved in a collision has also been picked up by drive-ed, which said: “Young drivers need a fully comprehensive education before they pass their test not catch-up skills-based training after a crash.”
