New research has revealed that one in every 100 company vehicle drivers is just one point away from losing their licence, emphasising the need for regular licence checks.

And one in five company drivers is just a single offence away from a ban, with 20% have between three and 11 penalty points on their licence.

Neville Briggs, managing director at CFC Solutions which carried out the research, said: “This underlines the importance of fleets undertaking regular licence checks.

“A driver who is one offence away from a ban represents a significant risk management issue for an employer as well as a potential operational problem if they are penalised and banned in the future.”

Instances uncovered during the CFC Licence Link software research include a driver who had an undeclared full driving band, and another who declared a full licence but only held a provisional one.
