Land Rover has introduced a new and more powerful diesel engine to its Discovery and Range Rover Sport models.

The 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 unit, developed in conjunction with Jaguar, delivers 242bhp, 443lb-ft of torque and returns a claimed average of 30.4mpg. CO2 emissions are 244g/km.

The existing 2.7-litre V6 diesel continues in lower-spec versions, offering 188bhp and identical economy and CO2 emission figures.

Prices will be announced closer to the models’ launch in September.
