The European automotive industry has submitted its R&D priorities to the European Commission to shape the European Green Car Initiative, announced by the EU.

The initiative, which is part of the European economic recovery plan, aims to allocate EUR 5 billion to bolster innovation in the automotive sector.

The submission stresses the importance of a joint approach between industry and policy makers.

It also stressed the need for a compatible infrastructure for energy sources and future fuels to be established.
