NCP will officially launch a national parking card for fleets at next month’s Greener Company Car In Action (June 16-18, Millbrook) after a year-long trial.

The Gateway Card is being used by 500 fleets with 5,500 cards in circulation.

NCP claims it enables fleets to track parking spend via online reports, recover VAT, reduce parking fines and consolidate monthly invoices.

Customers set up an account online where a credit check is undertaken before the cards are issued.

Each card is set up in the company car driver’s name and car registration and is available for use in any NCP car park that displays the Gateway Card logo (more than 90 city and town centres).

It means drivers no longer have to pay for parking and reclaim the money.

The core customer is city users, although any company that allows staff to reclaim parking as an expense will benefit, according to NCP.

“We’re very excited about the prospects for NCP Gateway; it’s the only product of its kind in the UK and offers benefits for both fleet managers and drivers,” said Jo Cooper, NCP commercial director.

ThyssenKrupp Elevators was one of the pilot fleets. It joined in June last year and has 92 drivers on the scheme.

“Since joining the scheme NCP Gateway has enabled me as a fleet manager to have full visibility and control of all parking expenditure and reduced our un-receipted claims and parking fines by an estimated £3,000 per month,” said Martin Nicholls, ThyssenKrupp Elevators fleet manager.
