Fleets are being advised to ensure their drivers fill up at the cheapest outlets, with average petrol prices hovering around the £1 a litre mark and diesel even higher.

According to the AA, unleaded petrol prices have risen by 2.7p per litre from 95p per litre to 97.9p per litre, while diesel prices have risen by 0.8p per litre, from 102.7p per litre to 103.5p per litre.

A fleet of 100 vehicles using 75 litres each a week would save £7,800 a year simply by buying their fuel at a supermarket rather than a branded outlet, claim comparison site businessfuelcards.co.uk.
