Audi's A3 range is now available with a new 1.6-litre diesel engine which cuts CO2 emissions to 109g/km.
The common rail TDI engine replaces the 1.9 TDIe version, offering the same 105bhp output but with emissions lowered from 119 to 109g/km and average fuel economy raised from 62.8 to 68.9mpg. As a result, it falls into the 13% diesel benefit-in-kind tax band.
The increased efficiency comes from using automatic stop-start and brake energy regeneration.
Available in hatchback, Sportback and Cabriolet versions, the 1.6 TDI costs from £17,485.
