Vans may be built again at LDV’s midlands factory, which has been silent since December 2008, after the administrator confirmed a potential buyer is considering recommencing some production.

“We are engaged in dialogue with one party on an exclusive basis, with the hope of achieving a sale of the business and assets,” said a spokesman for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC).

“We can also confirm that the party has indicated that it is studying the options for recommencing some production, at a time yet to be determined, at the Washwood Heath site.”

The identity of the possible buyer has not been revealed.

The PWC spokesman also confirmed that any fleet currently running LDV vans will not be able to submit claims for work carried out under warranty and will have to either meet the cost themselves or reach an agreement with their dealer.
