Trafficmaster has launched Smartnav Lite – a satellite navigation service that uses real people to download routes to your iPhone.

Smartnav Lite is supported by a team of round the clock personal assistants (PA) which users can be instantly connected to by pressing the Smartnav Lite icon within the Trafficmaster Companion application.

The PA is an expert in helping you find the right destination, say Trafficmaster, so whether you just have a name of a business or would like to find a nearby petrol station or restaurant, they will locate the address and download the route to you in seconds.

Trafficmaster say time spent scrolling through the address book or putting in postcodes will be saved and it alleviates the worry of the driver not knowing if they are going to the right destination or running the risk of arriving late.

The route is calculated using its own traffic data that is collated from its network of 8,000 roadside sensors and refers to actual road speeds. In addition, the PA’s are also on hand to help drivers in an emergency or a breakdown situation.

Smartnav Lite is free to download and then costs around £1.20 per route or PA assistance call.
