Kia Motors (UK) Ltd is increasing the prices of some of its range by between three and four per cent from April 1 and implementing the Government's new Vehicle Excise Duty changes at the same time to minimise disruption in showrooms and confusion amongst car buyers.
The price increase has been kept to the minimum level possible given a variety of pressures on production, shipping and currency costs - Kia in the UK imports all its vehicles either from South Korea or the company's Slovakian factory.
The price increase will not affect the recently launched new Sorento and Venga models and Kia has also been able to avoid any price increase on the Soul model.
Michael Cole, Managing Director of Kia Motors (UK) Ltd said: "We have worked hard with our partners in the dealer network to avoid price increases for as long as possible but it has proved impossible for us to avoid small change, however, we have ensured that our just-launched Sorento and Venga are not affected and we have also taken action to ensure that the Soul's price position was not affected either. Given all our cars are covered by a manufacturer's seven year warranty I believe our prices still represent extremely good value for money - and this is the first adjustment we have made for six months,"
The new showroom prices also incorporate the Government's new Vehicle Excise Duty Year One rate - the so-called "showroom tax". Some models show a small increase in price but others such as certain Venga models actually are reduced in price. Also many Picanto, Rio, Venga and cee'd models now have a zero VED rate for year one.
