The whistle has been blown on the first qualifying round of the Lexus National Schools Rugby Tournament, with 10 teams securing a place in next year’s finals.

Warwick School hosted the contest for squads from the North and Midlands on 13 November, with competition between under-eights, under-nines, under-10s and under-11s. As the new lead sponsor of the tournament, Lexus was pleased to support the day’s activities, adding to the occasion by organising souvenir photographs for the players and their families. Parents entered their children into a prize draw, the winner receiving a training session from former England rugby international, Richard Hill.

Tim Button, event director, said: “This was a fantastic day for the game of rugby blessed with outstanding levels of performance from the children. The event continues to grow and is fortunate to receive the support of Lexus. As the title sponsor, Lexus brought much atmosphere to the event, which was appreciated by everyone taking part.”

The next qualifying rounds will be held in Epsom, Reigate and Richmond, Surrey, next February for teams from the South East and South West. These will be followed by the tournament finals at Epsom College on 4 March.
