Fleet drivers have voted satellite-navigation their favourite piece of equipment in a survey on the use of driver gadgets.

The Fuelcard Company surveyed 1,106 of their fleet customers, including car, van and HGV drivers, and found that 470, or 42%, rated their in-cab satellite navigation system the most important item in their vehicle.

Mobile phone legislation and safety also appeared to be important with the hands-free kit rated the second most useful cab accessory by 25% of drivers.

The MP3 Player was voted the least useful item by 30% of respondents, followed by the portable fan and portable heater, which were deemed to be unimportant by 22% and 18% of drivers respectively.
