Independent fleet management specialist CLM has helped international premium consumer brands group AGA Rangemaster, synonymous with the world famous kitchen cooker, change more than two thirds of its fleet in recent months.

Latest additions to the 130-strong vehicle fleet are four specially modified Renault Master vans, complete with state-of-the-art Dhollandia tail-lifts capable of bearing the weight of the half-tonne cooker, for installation engineers fitting the appliances in customers’ homes.

The first batch of replacement vehicles, 62 Ford Transit Connect 230 LWB High Roof TDCI 110ps models for use by service engineers to carry out essential service work all round the country, replaced 80% of the light commercial fleet in one go.

CLM sourced the new vehicles, after providing comparable manufacturer quotes which showed that Transit Connects were still the most cost effective option and, by applying competitive tendering to the contract hire funding, was able to source higher specified vehicles for a similar price.

Darryl Hudson, Head of Customer Service for AGA at AGA Rangemaster, which also includes household brands such as Rayburn, La Cornue and Fired Earth in its portfolio, said that CLM’s service delivery had been exceptional.

“In recent months we have changed more than two thirds our commercial vehicle fleet with CLM’s help and guidance and the whole process has been faultless,” explained Hudson.

“CLM negotiated a fantastic rate for our Connect fleet, with no price increase but a higher specification than we had before. We are running the new vehicles for a mix of three and four years to stagger the replacement cycle going forward.”
