Shoreham Vehicle Auctions (SVA) has announced the appointment of two new team members as it grows its vehicle auction business based in Lancing, West Sussex.
The auction business has grown by 25% each year to 7,500 sales since managing director Alex Wright bought the business in 2010 and these appointments will help these growth levels continue.
Jim Hegarty joins the team as business development manager - fleet to grow the number of vehicles it disposes of for national leasing, daily rental and manufacturer customers.
Hegarty has been in the auction business for over 20 years working more recently in the national fleet sales team at BCA and Manheim Auctions.
Pamela Clapshoe has been appointed as Shoreham’s national dealer account manager. Leading a team of five, she is responsible for building relationships with local and national dealer groups to grow both Shoreham’s Monday and Thursday weekly auctions.
Clapshoe has worked in the auction business previously, more recently as a national account manager for Manheim Auctions.
To coincide with these appointments Wright has also announced he has purchased the freehold of the site committing his business to the Lancing area for the long term. Shoreham Vehicle Auctions paid an undisclosed sum for the four acre site which employs 30 people.
“The auction business has been very competitive over the past two years and to show consistent levels of growth is testament to the strong team we have at Shoreham, which has been strengthened with the appointment of Jim and Pamela,” explained Alex Wright.
“We are working with more and more local companies to help them turn their vehicles into cash quickly and efficiently, whilst more national brands such as the RSPCA, Peugeot Financial Services and Motability are using us to get the best price for their ex fleet vehicles,” he added.
Wright has grown Shoreham’s fortnightly van sale into one of the largest in the south of England disposing of nearly 300 vehicles per month. Its HGV sale has also started to take off and it has worked hard to improve prices for southern based car dealer groups and consumers selling their cars, vans or trucks.
Wright bought SVA after spending a decade with Manheim Auctions as commercial vehicle director. The site consists of two auction halls, a valeting bay, onsite restaurant and an MOT testing station and service bay which is open to the public and the trade. Shoreham also runs its own transportation service for single or multiple deliveries.
