Nissan will launch a new electric car in the compact segment based on Renault's upcoming Twingo.
It it set to go on sale in 2026, at a price of around £17,000. The company has not confirmed if the model will be offered in right-hand-drive.
The new city car will sit beneath the Renault 5-based Micra that Nissan will also launch next year.
News of the new Twingo-based Nissan comes as Renault Group announces changes to its alliance with the Japanese car brand.
After a failed merger with Honda, Nissan will remain within the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. It is no longer required to invest in Renault's Ampere electric powertrain division.
