As part of its ambitious five year growth strategy, Škoda UK has launched its Fit for Fleet Retailer Initiative to build upon record growth in fleet sales in 2011.

Last year, the car manufacturer saw fleet registrations increase by 31% to a total of 22,000, equal to nearly half of the more than 45,000 total Škoda sales in the UK.

The manufacturer has begun work with the 40 Fit for Fleet retailers who registered their interest in expanding their fleet business. These retailers will receive specialist training and marketing support to help deliver Škoda’s products to the fleet audience.

By 2015, Škoda UK aims to deliver 78,000 registrations and half of the overall sales volume will come from the fleet market.

Martin Burke, head of fleet sales at Škoda UK, said: “Value-for-money and engineering excellence are key pillars of the Škoda proposition, so we’re in a great position to satisfy the current demand for high-quality vehicles that don’t compromise the bottom line.

“We’re entering a period where a new model will be unveiled every six months and Fit for Fleet is a core element of our growth strategy, ensuring that our sales teams are trained and equipped to best deliver exceptional service to our fleet customers.”

Fit for Fleet will establish a two-way commitment between the brand and selected retailers. To help retailers establish a business model that accommodates a dedicated fleet focus, Škoda UK will provide fleet business and activity funds to the Fit for Fleet retailers.

Dedicated training schemes will also be put in place to help develop staff expertise, ensuring retailers are equipped to meet the needs of their fleet customers and prospects.
