This coming Sunday Goodwood will be in patriotic mode as it celebrates Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a selection of the very best of British vehicles, both on the ground and in the air.
In the morning, the June Breakfast Club theme of Rule Britannia will see British vehicles of all shapes, sizes and ages in attendance, with Union flags fluttering, and doubtless sponge cake aplenty! Unusually the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit will then remain open in the afternoon for a Big Pull of a classic British aircraft; Goodwood’s own Harvard.
The afternoon aircraft pull will take place on the track of the Goodwood circuit; with teams from different NATS units pulling the Harvard aircraft along the main pit lane straight against the clock. No doubt this will be pretty competitive, as the pull will form two parts - once each way along the main straight – to establish which of the aircraft pulling teams is the strongest.
During the Sunday there are a number of other activities and attractions taking place at the Goodwood Breakfast Club, including an air show (weather permitting) featuring the world’s only flying example of a Hurricane MK 11b bomber, plus a Beagle Chipmunk and Scout from the Army Air Display, and a number of other aircraft. Anyone wishing to arrive in their own aircraft can also attend the fly-in by pre-booking their arrival slot with the Goodwood Control Tower.
