Mitchells & Butlers, the UK’s largest operator of restaurants and pubs, has outsourced the management of its national fleet of 500 vehicles to fleet management provider CLM, following a long standing solus supply leasing contract.

Mitchells & Butlers employs around 36,000 staff and currently operates 1,600 restaurants and pubs all over the UK, including well-known brands such as Toby Carvery, Harvester, O’Neill’s and Browns.

Following the decision to change suppliers, CLM will now manage the entire Mitchells & Butlers fleet, including legacy vehicles.

CLM will utilise its contract management solution using competitive tendering via a panel of preferred leasing suppliers to reduce acquisition costs on behalf of the client.

As well as handling the complete procurement process, CLM is also providing end of term vehicle checks, daily rental vehicles, and fines management, plus storage and reallocation of vehicles through its Wharley End reallocation centre.

Darrell Wilson, director of corporate procurement at Mitchells & Butlers, said: “The results so far have been very impressive and we have seen significant five-figure savings already through the use of CLM’s contract management solution.

“We have greatly appreciated CLM’s flexibility throughout the implementation process and their ability to put in place detailed process maps, covering all of our fleet requirements.

“Our drivers now order their new vehicles online through CLM’s FleetActive web portal. This is of real benefit to us as it has increased the efficiency of our ordering process and is not seen as being as cumbersome as the previous system that we used.”
