Addison Lee has launched a new benchmark for excellence in minicab driving, as thirty-five of the company’s brightest recruits become the first to graduate with the Addison Lee Diploma.
The diploma, offered to select graduates of the Addison Lee Knowledge School, provides recognition to the best private hire drivers in London, whilst improving driver knowledge and understanding of routes in London.
Designed to provide a range of advanced driving skills, it teaches and trains drivers in vital areas such as customer service, cycle safety, driving technique and first aid, as well as efficient driving techniques to lower fuel costs and the fleet’s carbon footprint.
As part of its ongoing search for the best talent, Addison Lee has extended its driver training programme to job seekers in a pilot project with the Stockwell and Streatham branches of Jobcentre Plus.
The new programme will give long-term unemployed individuals the qualifications needed to move into the Addison Lee Knowledge School with the aim of securing a job with Addison Lee.
“By recognising drivers who meet our exacting standards, this new diploma will help us ensure we keep Londoners moving quickly, reliably and safely around the city,” said Addison Lee’s chairman John Griffin.

Sounds like an excellent initiative: it has potential to develop over the coming years.
