Over forty organisations have been shortlisted for the Energy Saving Trust Fleet Hero Awards 2013, which attracted nearly 100 entries from public and private sector organisations.

Now in its eighth year, the Energy Saving Trust Fleet Hero Awards identifies organisations, suppliers and manufacturers that have successfully reduced fuel bills and lowered carbon footprints through better transport policies and improved fleet efficiency.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Thursday, November 28, at the Institute of Directors (IoD) in London. Baroness Kramer, Transport Minister, will attend along with other notable business leaders and government stakeholders.

Philip Sellwood, chief executive of the Energy Saving Trust, said: “The Fleet Hero Awards recognise organisations that are helping the UK to significantly reduce carbon emissions. This plays a vital role in meeting the UK’s sustainability targets.

“Over the last eight years of these awards, we have seen a nine per cent decrease in total greenhouse gas emissions from domestic transport in the UK.

“At the same time, there has been a massive increase in sustainable thinking and practices within the transport industry, as well as increasingly innovative approaches to well-known environmental issues.

“This year we’ve had a fantastic response, so choosing the shortlist proved to be a difficult task. We do, however, have an extremely strong collection of organisations, suppliers and manufacturers that have impressed the judges with their commitment to green fleet management.

“We look forward to celebrating their success at the awards ceremony in November.”
