Pollock (Scotrans) has expanded their five-star membership of ECO Stars by joining the local fleet recognition schemes in South Yorkshire and Warrington.
Family-owned logistics specialists Pollock (Scotrans) is based in Bathgate near Edinburgh and operates throughout the UK with depots including Warrington, Leeds, Newcastle and London.
The company originally joined Edinburgh ECO Stars scheme in January 2012, initially achieving a three-star rating for their Bathgate depot vehicles.
Operations manager Mark Jackson said that Pollock (Scotrans) were delighted to support the first Scottish ECO Stars scheme by becoming one of the inaugural members.
“We wanted to show our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, and as a result of this and the advice given to us when we became an ECO Stars member, we embarked on a programme of vehicle replacement,” he explained.
This resulted in an impressive five-star award when the company’s entire fleet was reassessed a year later.
Now Pollock (Scotrans) has decided to expand its membership across its other depots and has registered vehicles based at Leeds and Warrington to ECO Stars schemes in South Yorkshire and Warrington.
Jackson said: “This really demonstrates our aspirations to reduce our environmental impact by reducing our vehicle emissions.
“We are always looking to improve our fuel efficiency and ECO Stars helps to focus our efforts. We also continue to invest in new vehicles and last month, we were the first haulier in Scotland to get a DAF Euro 6 vehicle”.
