Fleet Alliance has been shortlisted as Employer of the Year in the Scottish Business Awards by a prestigious judging panel led by Sir Tom Hunter.

The results will be announced at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Friday June 21, when all the profits from the event will go to nominated charities and the guest speaker will be former US President, Bill Clinton.

Fleet Alliance, which has its head offices in Glasgow but operates nationally, was shortlisted by the judging panel based on its achievements in staff development, which included the gaining of a Silver Accreditation from Investors in People, an accolade awarded to less than 5% of businesses in the UK.

The Investors in People adjudicators said that they had been  “highly impressed by the number of comments that were made about Fleet Alliance being ‘an excellent employer’ and a ‘great place to work’ as a result of the genuine and on-going commitment to improving the way people are managed, developed and supported”.

Fleet Alliance also conducted its own staff survey which showed that:

  • 97% of staff said they were proud to work for Fleet Alliance
  • 83% said they enjoyed working for Fleet Alliance and looked forward to coming to work.

At the same time, Fleet Alliance’s corporate social responsibility programme, ‘Fleet Alliance Loves’, has played a key role in shaping the company’s culture and has promoted a series  of charitable events , raising over £100,000 to date.

The company’s fund raising efforts peaked last September when an inaugural charity ball, attended by staff, clients, friends and family, raised over £27,000 for the company’s nominated charities.

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted for Employer of the Year at this year’s Scottish Business Awards, which is testimony to the hard work and effort put in by the overwhelming majority of the company’s employees,” said Fleet Alliance managing director, Martin Brown.

“Some 50% of the company’s staff have been promoted internally, while many have developed skills which have allowed them to take up more senior roles. This is also demonstrated in our current Board of Directors who have all been promoted from within the business,” he added.
Other shortlisted finalists include: City Building LLP, SecuriGroup, Abbott Risk Consulting, Mactaggart & Mickel Group, Life Technologies, Chisholm Hunter and Pharos-Offshore Group
