Advanced driver assistance systems provider, Mobileye, has signed an agreement with GE Capital Fleet Services to make Mobileye collision avoidance systems accessible to its truck fleet customers.

Senior vice president and general manager of products and services at GE Capital Fleet Services, Brad Hoffelt, said: “GE understands that fleet managers are focused on both safety and their bottom line. Enabling our customers to use Mobileye will help them keep collision-related costs down while building and maintaining safe driving habits.”

Mobileye helps drivers avoid accidents by alerting them to impending collisions with cars, trucks, motorcyclists, bicyclists and pedestrians; when making an unintended lane departure; and when following the preceding vehicle too closely. Additionally, Mobileye’s traffic sign recognition technology identifies posted speed limits in real-time and alerts drivers to speed limit violations, reducing the likelihood of speeding tickets. Mobileye also automatically controls high beams, depending upon distance to preceding and oncoming traffic.

More than 1.5 million vehicles are already fitted with Mobileye technology, and several million more are projected by 2014.

The technology can be found in new models from major truck, car and bus manufacturers and is also available as an aftermarket solution through its global distribution network.

CEO of Mobileye Aftermarket, Isaac Litman, said: “Our work with GE Capital Fleet Services underscores the need for a reliable collision avoidance solution in the fleet industry. Our customers report a significant reduction in vehicular collisions, and we are confident that GE Capital's truck fleet customers will benefit from this agreement.”
