Dorset County Council’s in-house fleet management and maintenance body Fleet Services, has adopted Chevin’s fleet solution FleetWave, a web-based enterprise fleet software system, to manage its vehicle fleet.
Providing fleet management and maintenance to a range of departments within Dorset County Council, Fleet Services operates across two main workshops and six outlying depots.
Emily Smith, senior fleet technical officer, said: “Before adopting FleetWave, we were using an in-house system and wanted to increase the level of information we could hold and generate about our fleet, especially workshop performance and fleet costs.
“The County Council looked closely at a number of systems available on the market and following a robust procurement exercise chose FleetWave. It stood out as being user friendly and flexible, with the ability to modify the system with limited IT knowledge.
“FleetWave has now been in place for over eight months and we are very pleased with the degree of visibility and reporting functionality that it provides. It is working very well for us.
“In the near future, we are planning to increase our reporting capabilities by adopting a number of other modules to help us manage amongst other things our specialist plant assets, fleet finances and enhance our driver information”
Ashley Sowerby, managing director at Chevin, said: “Our work with public sector fleets has been a traditional Chevin strength and we are very pleased to be working with Dorset County Council’s Dorset Highways Operations.”
