A brand new, high-speed website for Motors.co.uk has gone live, featuring enhanced listing functionality, intuitive search capability and additional visual content.

The UK’s second largest used car network has created the site using the very latest web technology and is the first major online classified business to launch a fully responsive website.

This means that whether dealers – and car buyers – view motors.co.uk on their mobile phone, laptop, tablet or smart TV they will be able to enjoy a first-class user experience, with all pages optimised to render perfectly regardless of the device used.

In addition to being fully responsive, the new website has been updated from a look and feel perspective and has also been streamlined in terms of page weight by 75% compared to the previous site, which makes it significantly quicker for the end user.

The car details page and other response areas have been fine-tuned using Autonomy, which leads the way in multi-variant testing tools, again ensuring that used car buyers can quickly find the vehicles of interest to them and easily contact dealers.

For example, users are presented with new search start points, allowing them to quickly and easily find economical cars, new arrivals and numerous other popular searches, earlier in the buying process.

Alongside the traditional make, model, mileage and colour searches, users will be able to group potential purchases by lowest road tax, group 1 insurance cars and average MPG.

New features include the ability to target customers, based on make and postcode, directly from homepage advertisements; as well as expert reviews enhancing car detail pages; and an upgraded dealership search allowing customers to browse solely within a particular advertiser’s stock.

Commercial vehicle dealers will also be pleased to hear that customers can search for vans by body style – creating a more convenient search process and an improved user experience.

Andy Coulthurst, managing director of Motors.co.uk, said: “We are very excited about our new site. It has been created using cutting-edge technology, including HTML5 and CSS3, and we believe that it will give users everything they need, whatever device they access it from.

“With visits from non-desktop devices now contributing more than 35% of total visits to Motors.co.uk, we are delighted that the new site displays our dealer’s stock perfectly to millions of monthly users on hundreds of devices and across dozens of operating systems – all from one place and at no extra cost to those dealers.

“Consumers are not all motivated by the same factors and, by offering a wider range of search criteria, dealers can list their stock in a way which appeals to a variety of motivations.”
