Honda (UK) has appointed Rob English (pictured left) as its new manager – corporate operations.
He fills the seat that Lee Wheeler recently vacated and will head the corporate sales division responsible for Honda’s fleet sales, leasing and rental operations.
Leon Brannan, head of cars, Honda (UK), commented: “Rob is a very welcome addition to our team and we are looking forward to him getting stuck in and taking on our fleet challenge, especially as we enter a new exciting era for our brand, both in terms of diesel engine technology and new additions to our line-up.”
English has spent much of his career within the Volkswagen Group, with a variety of roles, including corporate sales for Audi and heading Skoda’s fleet sales team. More recently he spent eight months as an account director at Return On Investment.

I don't envy him, Honda is the tail-end Charlie for CO2, their answer to the CRV being uncompetitive for tax? stick a 1.6D in it and lop 4 wheel drive off it! Not very technically innovative. And the specifications are all messed up. No one wants a pointless self dimming mirror but if its a business car we do want privacy glass to keep prying eyes out the back, its simple. Yet as Honda won't do options you have to go to at least SR spec to get privacy glass! My last CRV (with privacy glass) was £25K now its near £30K!!! - The SR being closest to the outgoing ES model. So with high CO2 (yes I know about the 1.6 but who wants a weedy two wheel drive SUV in the real world) and shocking prices (BIK hit) its going to be a bit of a problem getting many company drivers in them.. I won't be for sure. With a slight downsize I can have a 4 wheel drive Qashqai that is cheap to own at only 129g/km or a far, far cheaper BIK spec for spec Mazda CX-5.
