Alfa Tail Lifts is operating a fleet of Mercedes-Benz Sprinters supplied by Dealer Orwell Truck & Van and backed by the manufacturer’s Complete Care repair and maintenance contracts.
Under its Complete Care contracts, a monthly payment covers all routine maintenance costs as well as major items such as a new engine, gearbox or rear axle.
Contracts can be tailored to an operator’s specific needs, for example to include items such as tyres and refrigeration units, or cover across the whole of Europe.
Alfa Tail Lifts, which installs and repairs tail lifts, shutter doors and other commercial vehicle body components, has headquarters in Sawston, Cambridge, and depots in Glasgow, London and Manchester.
Fitted with generators and invertors, its 37 Sprinter 313 CDIs are used by engineers who work from these locations or from home, and provide nationwide coverage.
“Customer service is our most important asset,” says Alfa Tail Lifts managing director Phil Gibbs. “Whether we’re dealing with a single vehicle owner or a national fleet operator, they can be assured of the same high level of attention.
“We expect the same level of commitment from our suppliers, and that’s why we choose Mercedes-Benz.
“The Sprinter is a superb vehicle but equally important is the unstinting back-up we receive from Orwell Truck & Van and its fellow Mercedes-Benz Dealers, which allows us to keep our fleet running smoothly.”
Alfa Tail Lifts is an approved contractor for all lift manufacturers worldwide and in addition to their workshop function, its vans serve as mobile parts counters. As a result, they are close to fully loaded all the time.
Sawston-based vehicles are maintained in Orwell Truck & Van’s Newmarket workshop and usually serviced overnight.
“The fact that an engineer can drop his Sprinter off at Orwell at the end of the working day, go home in a courtesy vehicle, and then pick the van up next morning ready to start work, means we suffer virtually no downtime,” says Gibbs.
“This high-quality back-up helps us to live up to our own commitment to our customers, among them several ambulance service NHS trusts.”
