Motiva Group has been given the green light to start work on a £400,000 project to expand its head office in Stoke-on-Trent.
It’s the final part of the company’s move to consolidate all of its activities at a single site in the city.
Operations director Gary Williams believes the development will have significant implications for the business.
He said: “This scheme will provide us with the perfect platform for the future. t will enable us to continue the progress we’ve made in the last few years and provide the stability for long-term business planning.
“It will create major advantages, both practically and commercially, and it’s a vital part of our push to double the size of the business over the next three years.”
Planning permission for the project, which will deliver more than double the amount of office space and reception capacity, has now been granted by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
Work will start in July and could be finished in just 12 weeks.
The existing building will be turned into modern three-storey offices with a split reception area along with a boardroom, meeting rooms and space for the sales, administration and accounts teams.
A workshop complex at the rear, recently vacated by tenants, will be refurbished to house ramped service bays and other facilities. There will be staff and customer parking at the front of the Clarence Road site with fleet and vehicle storage at the rear.
Once development work is complete, the company will switch all members of staff to one site for the first time.
Williams added: “The business has operated from several locations around Stoke-on-Trent in the past, but now all our workforce will be together for the first time in our history.
“That will improve operational logistics at a stroke, but it will also have a positive effect on communication between all areas of the business and on staff morale.
“These are exciting times for us and this means we’ll all be together and pulling in the same direction, which can only be good news.”
Motiva Group moved into Clarence Road in September last year – buying the premises outright.
It was joined on site in June by sister companies M-Way Vehicle Rentals and Motiva Vehicle Contracts Ltd, both formerly based in Bucknall.
Now the remaining workshop operation can follow suit to create what Motiva believe will be the ultimate one-stop shop for vehicle solutions.
“This development will complete our vision of being able to provide a huge range of services from one site,” said Williams.
“We can already provide all types of contact hire, daily rentals, fleet monitoring, fuel management and risk management from our current base.
“But some of our staff have been using temporary mobile offices because there hasn’t been enough room for everyone.
“And now we’ll have workshop facilities on site too, so while this is a major investment, it’s one that makes good sense and we’re hoping to reap the benefits.”
