Renault has confirmed UK pricing and specification for the panel and crew van versions of the new Master, starting from £21,120 (basic price excluding VAT and OTR charges).
The New Master range continues to offer a made-to-measure selection of more than 120 versions in the UK, with a choice of four lengths and three heights, panel van, crew cab, platform cab, chassis cab, tippers, dropside and box van variants, as well as front- and rear-wheel drive, for a carrying capacity of between eight and 22 cubic metres.
There is also a choice of four GVW weights: 2800kg, 3300, 3500 or 4500. New additions are the L4H2 and L4H3 panel van versions with single rear wheels. Their long final-drive ratio makes them suitable for long-distance use and courier companies. The wider space between the wheel-arches permits euro-pallets to be carried at the back of the load area.
Business and Business+
Renault will offer the new Master in two trim levels in the UK, Business and Business+. The latest version offers a wealth of new equipment as standard, including DAB radio with CD player, ESC with Grip Xtend, Hill Start Assist and Trailer Swing Assist.
The entry point for the range, and the likely best-seller, is Business. Its features include a height adjustable driver’s seat with armrest and lumbar adjustment, left side loading door (unglazed), reach and rake adjustable steering wheel, electric front windows, electric heated door mirrors, full steel bulkhead, spare wheel, remote central locking (two button key) and deadlocking, plus 16 anchorage points (18 on long wheelbase).
New are ESC with HSA (Hill Start Assist) and Grip Xtend, an advanced traction control system to cope with loose surfaces (mud, sand and fresh snow etc.), plus DAB radio with USB connectivity and Bluetooth all as standard.
Moving up to Business+ offers several items of equipment, including air-conditioning, clipboard holder, hands-free key, pivoting seatback table with dual split underseat storage, Wide View Mirror (set in the passenger side sun visor, it more than doubles the line of sight to the rear), plus rear parking sensors.
Options
Customers have a number of optional extras, including option packs to choose from. All prices quoted exclude VAT.
Among the likely top-sellers are cruise control with speed limiter for £250, climate control at £950 (or £200 upgrade on Business+), and Renault’s integrated Carminat TomTom satellite navigation with 2x20W radio CD, Bluetooth and USB and fingertip controls priced at £650.
Also on offer is air suspension for £2,000, auto lights and wipers, plus front fog lights at £250 and cornering lights for £130.
Grouping three or more equipment items together, as offered through a selection of options packs, brings considerable customer savings. The first, 'driving pack', provides air conditioning, one-touch electric front windows, cruise control and speed limiter for £900.
An 'executive pack' offers air conditioning, front fog lights, cruise control, speed limiter and pivoting seatback table with dual-split underseat storage all-in for £900.
Tradesmen especially will likely benefit from the 'loading pack', which features an additional key, right unglazed side loading door, three-button key, 270 degree opening rear doors and ply lining at £800. The last, 'style pack', combines 16-inch alloy wheels with front fog lights for £500.
Ready4Work
In addition to its range of factory-fitted options, Renault has forged a partnership with vehicle storage specialist Bri-Stor, offering two types of off-the-shelf solution racking for its van range, including the new Master, under the banner ‘Ready4Work’.
The initiative, which enables customers to specify their chosen equipment and have it fitted so the driver is ‘Ready4Work’ as soon as the vehicle is collected from the dealership, means new owners can seamlessly continue focusing on the business and not lose any downtime fitting storage retrospectively.
Ready4Work range will be available on the short and medium wheelbase versions of thenew Master, with basic prices for it fitted at £1,250 (excluding VAT) for Storage System 1 and £1,500 for the Specialist Storage System.
Engines
New Master is powered by a choice of five all-diesel 2.3-litre engines, including three Energy versions, such as the new Twin Turbo dCi 165, with fuel economy of up to 40.9 mpg (combined) and CO2 emissions of 180g/km. They are all mated to six-speed manual or Quickshift6 transmissions.
All new for the Master range are three Energy engines in the form of the dCi 110, dCi 135 and dCi 165. There are also two 110hp and 125hp versions offering an attractive blend of price, pace and fuel economy. The 135hp and 165hp powerplants are equipped with Twin Turbo technology and, in addition to being more powerful, offer even greater fuel efficiency.
The 165hp version, for example, will provide a fuel-consumption saving of 7.3 mpg despite delivering 15 extra horsepower and 10Nm of additional torque. This will bring the fuel consumption of the MM35dCi 135hp and 165hp Energy versions of New Master up to more than 40 mpg (40.9 mpg, equivalent to 180g of CO2/km).
Fuel consumption can be improved even further by up to 10% by pressing on the Eco mode button which adjusts engine torque and the climate control/heater system’s settings.
New Master is available in a choice of 10 body colours, including three metallic shades.
Ordering has now opened with first deliveries due in September.
