ALD Automotive | LeasePlan has appointed Tim Laver as its country MD ahead of the company’s rebrand to Ayvens later this year.

The acquisition of LeasePlan by ALD Automotive in May 2023 brought together two of the UK’s biggest leasing companies to take top slot in last year’s FN50 with a risk fleet of 313,149 cars and vans.

The company is currently preparing for the UK launch of its new combined brand entity, Ayvens.

Laver has served as deputy country managing director of ALD Automotive | LeasePlan UK since the acquisition of LeasePlan by ALD Automotive in 2023, having previously held the position of managing director at ALD Automotive.

He succeeds Alfonso Martinez, who has decided to retire. Laver has worked in the automotive industry for more than 20 years, and as MD of ALD Automotive delivered double-digit growth in the corporate fleet segment while cementing the company’s market-leading position in white label partnerships.

Laver said: “I’m privileged to be given the opportunity to lead Ayvens UK as we embark on this new, exciting chapter.

“As part of our PowerUP 2026 strategy, we plan to leverage our unparalleled industry expertise and data sources to shape the future of mobility and achieve excellence across our four priority areas: operational efficiency, client value, corporate responsibility, and profitability.”

Martinez has been with LeasePlan since 2006 and became MD of LeasePlan UK in 2019.

He helped steer the company through the Covid-19 pandemic, has overseen the roll-out of EVs across its company and client fleets, and led the company through a successful integration period.

Reflecting on his departure, Martinez said: “My time served at LeasePlan, and more recently at ALD Automotive | Leaseplan has been the privilege of a lifetime.

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with amazing colleagues and a huge variety of customers across three countries.

“Latterly in the UK, we’ve worked hard to lead the transformation of the UK transport sector, paving the way for cleaner, more sustainable mobility solutions.

“I now leave my position after 18 fulfilling years knowing that we have succeeded in that mission.

“At Ayvens UK, we’re uniquely positioned to deliver even further on that mission and shape the future of sustainable mobility for generations to come.

“Tim’s track record of delivering growth, along with his extensive experience, make him the right person to lead the business going forward.

“I wish him and the rest of the team every success and will remain a close friend of the company.”
