Subaru has confirmed pricing and specifications for the new sixth-generation Forester.

The redesigned model is available from £38,995 and is powered by an e-boxer hybrid engine.

As well as looking different from its predecessor, new Forester features improved on-road driving dynamics and off-road capability.

The e-boxer powertrain combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with a mild hybrid system. Power is sent through a Lineatronic (CVT) gearbox to all four wheels.

Official fuel consumption if 34.9mpg, with CO2 emissions of 183g/km.

The Forester's all-terrain system includes hill descent control, maximising control and traction on slippery surfaces or steep inclines.

Additionally, the new Forester provides ground clearance of 220mm and a towing capacity of 1,870Kg.

The Forester has been a key model in the Subaru lineup since it was first launched in 1997.

With more than five million units sold globally over the past 27 years and currently the third-biggest-selling Subaru model in Europe, it has been redesigned in a more sophisticated and refined package, says the manufacturer.

Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist technology has been upgraded with newly added functionality.

This will also now include an emergency driving stop system, which can bring the vehicle to a complete stop if needed and in a safe way, if the driver can no longer control the vehicle in an emergency situation.

The cabin features a new 11.6-inch infotainment system with improved operability - while retaining physical buttons and switches for climate control and other key functions. The updated infotainment suite includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

The Forester Limited, starting from £38,995, comes with EyeSight 4.0, 18-inch alloy wheels, wireless phone charger, electronically adjustable a heated front seats, auto-dimming rear view mirror, and a 360-degree surround view camera.

Forester Field, gains privacy glass, a heated steering wheels, a powered tailgate and sat-nav. Prices start at £40,440.

Range-topping Touring models (from £42,995) have 19-inch alloy wheels, heated rear seats, a sunroof and leather upholstery.
