Audi has confirmed details of the new A3 40 TFSIe plug-in hybrid, which goes on sale in November.
Based on the latest A3, the new plug-in hybrid model has an 88-mile zero-emission range and sits in the 5% benefit-in-kind tax band.
Prices start at £39,150 for the Sport trim. S Line and Black Edition versions are also available.
The A3 40 TFSIe uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which combines with an electric motor to provide 204PS. Acceleration from 0-62mph takes 7.4 seconds.
A 19.7kWh (useable) battery is fitted, giving almost double the capacity of the previous model. Audi has also added 50kW rapid charging to the new car as well as boosting the AC charging rate to 11kW.
When braking and coasting, the battery can recuperate energy to extend its range. Drivers can control the level of recuperation using paddles on the steering wheel
The car's suspension has been specifically calibrated to accommodate the additional weight of the battery, benefiting ride quality and dynamics.
