Autoglass technician George Pim, from Grantham, Lincolnshire, has been named second-best windscreen technician in the world after finishing as runner up in the Best of Belron 2024 competition.

The two-day competition, held in Lisbon, saw technicians from 30 different countries complete a range of vehicle glass repair, replacement and Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) recalibration tasks.

The overall winner was David Chester from Canada.

Pim has been a technician at Autoglass since 2011 and was entered into the global competition after beating seven other top technicians from across the country in the UK stage of the competition earlier this year.

Simon Blake, customer and operations director at Autoglass, said: “We are immensely proud of George for claiming silver in the Best of Belron 2024 competition. This is a testament to his exceptional skills, dedication, and the high standards we uphold at Autoglass.

“George's success will inspire our entire team to strive for excellence and continue delivering top-notch service to our customers.”

The Best of Belron has been held biennially for over 20 years, and David Chester now joins the ranks of eleven other global champions from countries including the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and the USA.

Pim said: “Coming second in the entire world is a massive achievement, it’s been one hell of a ride and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I wouldn’t be here without my coach, Simon Golding, so a big shout out to him. Best of Belron is an amazing event, I hope I’ve made everyone proud.”

The Best of Belron event, which took place from June 12-13, was attended by around 1,600 guests, including Belron’s key customers, suppliers, shareholders, press, and employees.

The 30 technicians, each a national title holder, competed for the international title by demonstrating their expertise in windscreen repair and glass replacement.
