BMW has launched a new estate version of the 5 Series, offered with a plug-in hybrid engine and as the electric i5.
The 5 Series and i5 Touring models are available to order now, priced from £59,455 for the 530e.
Prices for the i5 start at £69,945.
Based on the existing 5 Series and i5 saloon, the new Touring offers enhanced practicality.
Compared to its predecessor, the new BMW 5 Series Touring is 97mm longer (5.06m), 32 millimetres wider (1.9m) and 17 millimetres higher (1.5m). It has the longest wheelbase in its class, increasing by 20 millimetres to almost three metres.
As a result, the car offers more space and noticeably more leg, shoulder and elbow room, especially in the rear.
A wider luggage compartment opening and lower loading sill provides easier access to the 570-litre boot, which expands to 1,700 litres with the rear seats folded.
The i5 Touring is available with two powertrains: eDrive40 and M60. The eDrive40 has a single motor that powers the rear wheels. It develops 340PS and has a range of up to 348 miles.
M60 variants have two electric motors, giving all wheel drive. The combined power output is 601PS, giving a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds. A range of up to 314 miles is possible.
Joining the electric models, the 530e Touring has a plug-in hybid powertrain. It develops 299PS, by combining a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor. The 530e Touring has a WLTP electric range of up to 60 miles.
M Sport and M Sport Pro trims are offered, along with Sport Edition for the i5 Touring eDrive40.
