Freight Systems Express Wales (FSEW) has achieved diesel-free status, with a 40 strong fleet that consists of five electric and 35 CNG fuelled trucks, after taking delivery of four additional CNG Iveco S Ways, using 100% biomethane.

Geoff Tomlinson, managing director of FSEW, set a target to make his fleet diesel free by 2025, five years ago.

He explained: “The arrival of four new CNG fuelled Iveco S-Ways means we’ve achieved our target of becoming diesel free.

“I’m incredibly proud of every member of our team at FSEW who have worked together to make this happen.”

Since the company introduced its alternative fuelled vehicles in March 2022, it has covered more than 8.5million miles, which includes 280,000-plus electric vehicle (EV) miles and 6.5 million CNG miles.

“We’re proud to run an all arctic fleet with a mix of 4x2 and 6x2 tractor units, with five electric trucks alongside 35 CNG fuelled trucks,” continued Tomlinson.

“This is a significant step forward for us removing over 8.5million diesel miles off the road.

“One of the main routes we use through Cardiff has four schools. Making the roads cleaner for the future generations is critical and we’re playing our part in trying to achieve this.

“We can’t do it on our own though and I’m committed to sharing our journey with the freight sector and help make this the norm.”
