Licence Check brings in new features for Davis Coaching after record results

Licence Check has added new functionality to its innovative Davis Coaching module to give fleet managers greater insight into training course performance and strengths and weakness of their drivers.

At the same time, the company has revealed record figures for its Davis (Driver and Vehicle Information Solution) platform.

The number of drivers recorded on the system had risen by 34% to more than 930,000 and the number of licences checked was up by almost 20% to 1.4 million in the 12 months to the end of 2024.

Licence Check, part of the Ebbon Group, launched Davis Coaching, which is delivered by a dedicated driver app, just over a year ago to provide targeted online training for company drivers.

Additional functionality currently being worked on by Licence Check developers will include the option for fleet and risk managers to trigger ad hoc courses for an individual, specific types of drivers or by department to provide a more tailored approach to driver training.

In the past 12 months, drivers of all categories have answered over 450,000 questions via the app, recording a ‘willingness to learn’ score of around 64%.

The best performing knowledge category in 2024 was ‘awareness’ while the question category answered incorrectly the most times in 2024 was ‘speeding’.

Licence Check managing director, Keith Allen, said: “These latest features will add to the already impressive, highly targeted functionality currently available through Davis Coaching, and will give fleet and other managers greater insight into the performance levels of their drivers, regardless of category.”

Mobilisights, Stellantis’ data-as-a-service subsidiary, is partnering with GAC Technology, a fleet management software provider.

The partnership will give customers access to connected vehicle data from Stellantis brands, including Citroën, Jeep, Fiat, and Peugeot.

Fleet managers using GAC Car Fleet will be able to securely activate or deactivate data from factory-installed telematics units, ensuring a direct and secure data flow.

The collaboration, it says, addresses the growing demand for smart fleet management integration, promoting more efficient and sustainable vehicle operations.

Broad Oak claims savings with FleetCheck software

A time saving of 12 weeks annually is being claimed by the fleet team at Broad Oak Property following the adoption of FleetCheck software.

The Staffordshire-based business, which has a 170-vehicle fleet centred on 3.5 tonne vans, is using the company’s Professional level product to replace a range of spreadsheets.

Andy Gill, group facilities manager, said: “Switching to FleetCheck has massively simplified our task management. Thanks to automated workflows and centralised data, plus a traffic light system of alerts, our team is saving around two hours daily, equating to reclaiming 12 weeks annually. It’s a massive saving in resources.”

He added that the move to specialist software had also enabled Broad Oak to take a more strategic view of its fleet, rather than just concentrating on day-to-day tasks.

Peter Golding (pictured), managing director at FleetCheck, said: “Many businesses bump along using increasingly unwieldy spreadsheets to manage their vehicles but ultimately, they are just becoming less and less efficient at daily tasks and have little overall operational insight.

“As Broad Oak have explained, switching to specialist software can bring about huge time savings but, perhaps more importantly, it provides the means to take a step back and make the strategic decisions that every fleet needs. We’re very pleased to welcome them on board as a customer.”
