LeasePlan has participated in two DVLA pilot schemes, giving feedback which they say will help to develop and refine the agency’s new online systems.

LeasePlan’s early involvement with the schemes has also received a positive response from customers, said the leasing company. The View Vehicle Records (VVR) system, enables users registered on DVLA’s fleet scheme to access data on their vehicles 24/7 and the personalised registration system allows owners to remove a private number plate from a vehicle online.

As part of the Government’s effort to reduce red tape, the DVLA has been making more services accessible online. The VVR system is now in public beta testing and the personalised registration system to assign a registration number also moved into public beta, in May 2015.

These new systems are part of wider measures to remove unnecessary paperwork and make updating vehicle information more straightforward for both the leasing industry and individual drivers.

Shona Harper, general manager, fleet administration at LeasePlan UK, said: “Being invited to take part in the pilot schemes was a great way for us to get an early understanding of the progress and changes the DVLA are making. Taking part in VVR in particular has given us the ability to offer our clients a new level of fleet insight.

“It’s enabled us to identify vehicles that are not taxed or which haven’t competed their MoT, and then to review the data to ensure the DVLA and LeasePlan records match. We are excited about the significant efficiency improvements these online systems will bring, and we will now work with the DVLA to improve the quality of data available.”
